Four Arrested for Sexual Assault of Minor in Odisha’s Malkangiri District: A Community Left in Shock

A shocking incident unfolded in Malkangiri district, Odisha, where a minor girl returning from a birthday party became the victim of a brutal and horrifying crime. According to police reports and local sources, the girl was first abducted by three men while making her way home from her friend’s house on Sunday evening. The perpetrators forcibly took her to a remote forested area approximately 10–15 kilometers from Malkangiri town, where they sexually assaulted her.

Demonstrating remarkable presence of mind and courage, the survivor managed to escape the clutches of her assailants. However, her ordeal did not end there. While desperately attempting to find her way back to safety, she encountered a truck driver along a highway, seeking help. Tragically, instead of assisting the traumatized minor, the truck driver also raped her.

Locals later found the girl with the truck driver in a suspicious situation near National Highway 326 at Bija Ghati. Concerned for her safety, they immediately contacted the police. The authorities responded promptly, rescued the survivor, and took her to a shelter home for her protection and care. She was described as bleeding and in urgent need of medical attention when brought home, and she is currently being treated at a hospital, where her condition is reported as stable.

Law enforcement moved quickly to detain all four accused individuals—including the three men involved in the initial abduction and the truck driver, who reportedly hails from Madhya Pradesh. The case was formally registered, and the arrested suspects are undergoing police interrogation. The survivor’s statement has also been recorded, and officials have ensured her safety and support throughout the process.
